If you're a senior looking to go to college, this is an event you won't want to miss! Mark your calendars for Sunday, February 19 at 2:00pm for this free one-day event aimed at helping students and families complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and the Arkansas Universal Scholarship Application (YOUniversal). Sonora Elementary Celebrates First 100 Days

January 26th marks the first 100 days of school for kindergarten students throughout the district, but it also marks a special day for students at the district’s newest elementary school. Kindergarteners at Sonora Elementary School celebrated their school’s inaugural first 100 days of school with a bang.

Central Student Wins County Spelling Bee
 
Chris Pardun, an eighth grader at Central Junior High, won the Washington County Spelling Bee at Woodland Junior High in Fayetteville. He correctly spelled "erasable" during the 33rd round. Pardun won $200 and will compete in the Arkansas Spelling Bee March 3 at Little Rock. District Spelling Bee champion Sojas Wagle, a fifth grader at Walker, finished third. 
Tyson Hornet Entrepreneur Team Named State Finalist

Eco-Wrap Scarves of Helen Tyson Middle School, under the sponsorship of GT Facilitator Jenny Jones, is one of 26 finalists in Arkansas’s 7th annual Youth Entrepreneur Showcase (Y.E.S.), a statewide business plan competition for fifth to eighth graders.

Walker Student Wins District Spelling Bee

Sojas Wagle of Walker Elementary and Abigayle Luttrell of Hellstern Middle School had been in a two-person standoff for 10 rounds of the Springdale School District Spelling Bee when Luttrell slipped. Wagle then was asked to spell a tough word to win -- miscellaneous.
